Tapia Promotions Withdraws from ICSmania One Due to Financial and Ethical Concerns

Albuquerque, NM - Tapia Promotions has withdrawn from the ICSmania One event scheduled for April 12 after discovering significant financial instability and ethical concerns regarding event funding. Investigations reveal that ICS, under the leadership of President Gary Lewis, planned to host the event without securing proper funds to ensure fighter compensation-a pattern observed in previous events.

"Fighters risk everything in the ring, and they deserve respect, security, and fair treatment," said Teresa Tapia, President of Tapia Promotions. "We cannot, in good conscience, support an event that jeopardizes the well-being of our athletes."

Combat sports is a precious discipline that unites a community built on respect, sacrifice, and excellence. We stand with fighters and fans alike in protecting the integrity of the sport. Tapia Promotions remains dedicated to upholding our mission: protecting fighters, building community, and honoring Johnny Tapia's legacy.

This is the 2nd time Tapia Prolotions has had issues with promoters outside NM. In 2023 fighters claimed to be unpaid for their efforts on a card at Santa Ana Star center. Both sides blamed each other, similar to this event.

Fighters were eventually paid. Will we know the truth ? Time will tell, but for now the card is still a go with Matthew Griego , Brian Mendoza Albuquerque locals favorites.
