Clinton Chavez looking to win UBO belt

Clinton Chavez knows the importance of the opportunities to fight for titles, no matter how big or small. Chavez will be fighting for his 2nd title this year. He fell short this past April against Emeka Nwokolo for the UBO Intercontinental title. Chavez will battle unbeaten Mario Gonzalez 5-0, for the UBO North America Crown, Saturday at the Pyramid Hotel.

“I know that winning any belt no matter if is a minor belt, it adds a little to possibly getting bigger fights.” Said Chavez

Chavez hopes this time around he will correct the things that he saw in his loss to Nwokolo. Chavez likes to fight on the inside, but with him normally having a height advantage, he feels he didn’t take advantage of his 6ft frame.

“I love to brawl and sometimes I don’t take advantage of my height, I should be boxing more, but then I get on the inside I want to bang. Starts Chavez “We have been working on that more in the gym this time around.”

When asked about his opponent the unbeaten Gonzalez, Chavez hasn’t seen him much other than a few videos. Gonzalez is a pressure fighter and is strong.

“What I have seen of Gonzalez is that he will come forward, this is where I need to use my boxing more, make sure he doesn’t get to close. It will be a big test and I hope to put on a great show.”

Chavez vs Gonzalez will be the main event Saturday, with doors opening at 5pm.
