Leo wins in Florida
Angelo Leo continued his quest towards a world title shot with a workman like decision over Eduardo Baez.
Leo raised his record to 24-1, ko’s to retain the WBA intercontinental North American featherweight title with the win over Baez, now 23-6–2.
Round one had Baez trying to keep Leo at bay with his jab, Leo landed hooks to the body that started to cause redness on Baez sides. Baez tried to keep the fight a distance fight, while Leo wants to make it inside.
Leo was the busier fighter in round two, landing his left hook to the body. Baez tried a few times to load up with his right hand, but missed wildly.
Round three saw Leo taking more control by keeping the fight inside, continuing landing his left hook and overhand rights.
Leo started to take more control as the fight progressed, Baez slowed and was not as active as he was earlier in the fight. Leo coming forward, still landing to the body and head. Leo’s body shots started to take its toll.
The second half of the fight had Leo continue what he does best, come forward, landing his hooks to the body and rights to the head..
Baez had his moment's, but Leo was in control .
All three judges had Leo winning by scores of 97-93, 98-92 on the two other cards.
