Moreau Jr. & Olayo-Munoz amateur Fighters of the Year.

New Mexico was well represented in 2024 at the amateur level. Leroy Clark and Alexa Garrobo had very good years. Clark has been going up in weight taking on all in the super heavyweight . Garrobo captured a national title earlier in the year, but honors in 2024 go to Yoruba Moreau Jr. and Joscelyn Olayo-Munoz.

Male amateur Fighter of the Year


Moreau Jr. had a stellar 2024, his Record to date is 121-30, he represented New Mexico in the Olympic Trials, coming short losing a close decision in the quarters finals. Moreau went to the USA Open nationals in March losing-in the finals.

Moreau captured the New Mexico Gooden Gloves tournament, he won regionals and again repressed New Mexico at the Golden Gloves nationals in Detroit losing in the Semi-finals


Moreau is young and has a bright future if he stays in the amateur or decides to turn professional.

Joscelyn Olayo-Munoz

Female amateur Fighter of the Year


Olayo-Munoz, or as she is called Jos the Boss, captured her 16th national title, most recently she captured the open 106 national championship in Virginia.

Jos, has been invited to train in Colorado Springs at the Olympic Center, she continues to grow and represent New Mexico in the international level in 2025.

Jos is ranked as the top 106lb fighter in the USA rankings.
