Leanna Martinez from Cordova, New Mexico, is making her comeback to the ring after a two and a half year break, leading the Holmes Promotions fight card this Saturday at the Ohkay Casino. This marks Pat Holmes' return to promoting boxing in Northern New Mexico.

Martinez, with a record of 4-4, will face Maryguenn Villinga, who has a record of 4-5-2, in a 115-pound women's bout.

Though Martinez hasn't been active for several years, she has been working out in the gym to prepare for her comeback. She also wanted to prioritize her health first.

Martinez was diagnosed with an autoimmune deficiency, which she says she has recovered from and is now ready to continue her career.

Martinez says, "I was constantly training in the gym, but after my diagnosis, my health became my top priority. Once I managed that, I was prepared to return to boxing."

Martinez, a local favorite in her hometown, aims to deliver a great performance without feeling any pressure.

"I am thrilled to compete in my hometown, and with the support of family and friends, I aim to deliver a great performance. This motivates me even more, allowing me to fight my best without any pressure."

Fighting at what may be considered older for professional boxing, Martinez says she has a lot of fight in her and will continue until she can't anymore.

Martinez states, "I intend to keep fighting until my body can no longer do so. I'm focused on this fight and have no plans to retire soon."
