Elijah Martinez Looking to Build Momentum Following Personal and Professional Breakthrough

Bloomfield’s Elijah Martinez will return to the ring on July 18 in El Paso, Texas, when he faces undefeated hometown fighter Victor Aranda on the Ring Wars 23 card at the El Paso County Coliseum.

For Martinez, the upcoming fight represents more than just another opportunity in the professional ranks. It is another step forward in a journey that has included overcoming personal adversity and finding renewed focus inside the ring.

After losing his father six years ago, Martinez struggled mentally and admitted he was not fully committed to the sport. The loss affected him both personally and professionally, making it difficult to dedicate himself completely to boxing.

“I just wasn’t into it mentally with the loss of my dad, but my team told me , it’s time to move past and get back to boxing the way that you know how.” Said Martinez

That began to change earlier this year.

On April 4, Martinez delivered the most significant victory of his career when he stopped Bryant McClain in the fourth round on a Legacy Promotions card in Albuquerque. The performance showcased a more focused and determined fighter and marked a turning point in his career.

With renewed confidence and a fresh outlook, Martinez believes he has finally put the pieces together. Now he hopes to carry that momentum into one of the toughest assignments of his career against the unbeaten Aranda in front of a hometown El Paso crowd.

A victory on July 18 would be a major statement for the Bloomfield native and could open the door to bigger opportunities as he continues moving forward in the professional ranks.

For Martinez, the goal is simple: keep moving full steam ahead and continue building on the progress he has made both inside and outside the ring.

Martinez has been sparing with unbeaten prospect Rolyn Nez, the two feed off each other and Martinez credits Nez with helping him get back to where he was.

“Nez has really helped me see things that I lost focus on, such as movement and foot placement,” Martinez said. “He’s really helped me come along.”
