Clinton Chavez wins UBO title

Clinton Chavez stormed back to halt Mario Gonzales at the 2:55 mark of round eight.

The fight is candidate for fight of the year in New Mexico. Both fighters didn’t deserve to lose as they left it all in the ring.

At the time of the stoppage the official cards had Chavez ahead on 2 of the 3 scorecards.

Gonzales started fast with hard power punches to the body and head, Chavez stuck to his game plan with jabbing and trying to keep the fight in the center of the ring.

Chavez would come back in 7th and have Gonzales on the heels of defeat as the bell sounded.

In the final round chances came out strong, but Chavez went for broke landing right hands to the head, Gonzales stumbled to the ropes where Chavez continued his barrage until the referee halted the fight .

Chavez wins the UBO title, raises his record to 8-2, while Gonzales falls for the first time at 5-1.
