Cody East “ I know I am the better fight”

It has been almost a decade since Manuel Eastman upset Cody East with a first round tko. East came into the bout 2-0, while Eastman was 1-3 at the time. East now 5-1, gives all respect to Eastman now 3-8, but feels he is ready to avenge his only loss in boxing.

“I give him all the respect, he caught me with a good right hand and I didn’t recover.” Stated East “I still believe I am the better fighter now and then.”

East has been one of New Mexico’s most active fighters, albeit MMA, Bare Knukle and boxing. He has posted a 8-0 record in all three combat sports in 2024. He wants to continue his streak with his rematch with Eastman.

Discussing how East will approach the rematch, he feels Eastman will be the same and come out aggressive. He has been working on being more patient, he knows he is in the better shape.

“I have been working on a lot of things in the gym that will help me this time around, I know I am more active and in better shape. He fights once a year, then takes time off. It will be something that will be to my advantage.”

The East vs Eastman rematch has a catch weight for heavyweights, 220 pounds. East feels the Eastman camp thinks it will hurt him to cut weight, but East sees it different.

“I have fought at 205 this year and had no issues, I have a nutritionist and Im on weight, that wont be an issue. I know I can fight for 8 hard rounds, I don’t think he can and that will be the difference.”

East vs Eastman will be part of the Legacy Promotions card this Saturday at the Pyramid Hotel.
