Faith, Family Fuel Josh Torres Ahead of Legacy Promotions Main Event

For Josh “Pitbull” Torres, boxing has never been solely about championships or recognition. While victories are important, the veteran New Mexico fighter says his greatest purpose is using the sport to glorify God and inspire others.

Torres returns to the ring on July 31 when he headlines Legacy Promotions’ Summer Heat card at the Embassy Suites in Albuquerque against Mexico’s Alejandro Frias Rodriguez. The bout marks another main event for the promotion that has played the biggest role throughout his professional career.

“God gave me this platform for a reason,” Torres said. “If I can inspire just one young person to stay on the right path, then everything I’ve gone through has been worth it.”

Throughout his career, Torres has openly shared his faith, believing boxing has provided him with opportunities to encourage others beyond the ropes.

“I know I may never be a world champion, but I want to keep doing this to inspire the youth,” Torres said. “That’s what keeps me going.”

While fans see the long training camps and sacrifices required to compete at a high level, Torres says his success begins at home.

“My wife Ari is the backbone to everything,” he said. “She keeps our house in order, takes care of the boys. She is my rock.”
