Leo KO’s Lopez with vicious left hook


Angelo Leo became a two-time world champion when he landed a vicious left hook to the head of former champion Luis Alberto Lopez in a battle from the get go until Leo unleashed his left hook. Leo is now the IBF Featherweight champion, the win was in front of his hometown of Albuquerque.


Time of the stoppage was 1:16 of the 10th round.


“We were working on this and it finally happened in the 10th.’ Stated Leo on his left hook.


“I worked on my defense and I want to fight all chanmpions and unify.”


Round one saw Lopez come straight forward with his pressure, albeit wild. Leo wold try to establish his jab and was the more sound boxer> Leo would establish his jab and worked Lopez body. Leo caught Lopez with a hard right hand in the last :20 seconds that may have won the round for him.


Lopez came out swinging for the fence's early in round two, but missing. Leo capitalized on this by landing a huge combination in the center of ring. The pro Leo crowd rose to its feet as he landed and won the round with his flurries.


The action packed fight continued in round three, with Lopez coming forward landing hard right hands and uppercuts on Leo’s head. It’s Leo’s boxing verse the strong as an Ox Lopez.


Leo and Lopez both had their moments in rounds four and five. Lopez continued to come forward with his constant reassure. Leo showed he was not afraid to exchange with Lopez. Tough rounds to score, depending on if you like the pressure of Lopez or the boxing skills of Leo.


In the seventh round of the fight Leo landed his hardest punch, snapping Lopez head back in the center of the ring brining a roar to the crowd. Lopez still continued to come forward trying to land uppercuts and wild rights. he was able to get Leo’s attention, but it was Leo’s round.


Rounds eight and nine , saw LEo back to using his jab more and Lopez continuing to come forward. Action was not a fast paced as in the previous rounds, you couldn’t be upset with the pace of the fight.


Round 10 had Leo boxing more and on his bicycle, staying our of harms way from Lopez attack. Lopez continued to come forward, yet Leo was able to outbox him with less action.


Entering round 10, Leo and Lopez came out looking to get the edge, but a lighting left hook by Leo put Lopez down for the count. Lopez was flat on his back and counters out


Leo is now 25-1 with 12ko’s, Lopez falls to 30-3 17ko’s


Co-Main Event


Lindolfo Delgado won the vacant WBO Latino Jr Welterweight belt with a Split decision win over Bryan Flores. The scores were 95-93, 96-92,for Delgado and 96-92 Flores. The fight was not as close with Flores suffering a knockdown and a point dedication. BoxingNewMexico.com had it 98-92 for Delgado.
