New Mexico’s Louie Burke Guiding Undefeated Craig Parker at Cruiserweight
New Mexico has produced its share of outstanding boxing talent, but the state has also developed some exceptional trainers. One of them is Las Cruces native Louie Burke, a longtime boxing veteran who continues to make his mark in the sport.
Burke, widely respected for his boxing knowledge and experience, is now working with undefeated cruiserweight Craig Parker, bringing years of experience into Parker’s preparation.
At just 34 years old, Parker has already built an impressive professional record of 23-0 with 21 knockouts. As Jesse Reed gets a little older, Parker began looking toward the next chapter of his boxing career and the best way to continue developing as a fighter.
“Jesse Reid is my mentor and I learned a lot from him and look to share that with Craig”
Said Burke
Reid is still part of the team, Burke is the one who is sharing Reid’s knowledge.
Parker decided to turn to Burke, believing that working with one of the best trainers in the sport would be a wise move for his future. He made the decision to go to Las Cruces and work closely with Burke, where he has been living between fights.
The arrangement allows Parker to dedicate himself to training, learning and improving under Burke’s guidance. Having a trainer with Burke’s experience in his corner gives the young cruiserweight an opportunity to continue developing as he pursues bigger opportunities in the sport.
Parker has embraced his new surroundings and the opportunity to work with Burke.
“I’ve kind of adopted Las Cruces as a second home,” said Parker.
Parker will put his undefeated record on the line November 3 when he faces Bradley Omeda, who brings a 9-1 record into the matchup.
At 34 years old, with 21 knockouts in 23 professional victories, Parker has established himself as a cruiserweight to watch. His decision to work with Burke represents another step in his development, while also bringing a New Mexico connection into his corner.
For Burke, it’s another opportunity to put his New Mexico boxing roots, knowledge and years of experience to work with an undefeated young fighter looking to reach the next level.
New Mexico boxing continues to make its presence felt, and this time, Louie Burke is helping guide one of the sport’s unbeaten young cruiserweights.
