D’Angelo Sanchez and Austin Lewis are set to meet once again on July 18 at the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas, as part of King’s Promotions’ Ring Wars card.

The two first met earlier this year, with Sanchez earning a unanimous decision victory after a competitive four-round contest. While Sanchez believes he settled the score in convincing fashion, Lewis has made it clear he feels the rematch will tell a different story.

Lewis recently took to social media, pointing to his preparation heading into their first meeting.

“I took the fight on two weeks’ notice, and if I had a full camp, it would’ve been different.”

Lewis also promised fans a more aggressive approach in the rematch.

“Sanchez can’t be a track star in this fight. I’m coming for war.”

Sanchez isn’t buying the excuses.

“I beat him clearly, every round and got the knockdown.”

The Las Cruces, New Mexico fighter said Lewis made the decision to accept the first fight under those circumstances.

“He says a lot that he didn’t have a full camp. No one told him that he had to take the fight.”

Sanchez also believes more preparation won’t change the outcome.

“He can have two months, six months, a year. My skills are better, and there isn’t much he can do.”

Responding to Lewis’ comments about movement in the ring, Sanchez defended his strategy.

“It’s called boxing, not running. I’m not dumb. He fights with his head. Why would I want to get head-butted?”

With both fighters exchanging words before fight night, the rematch has added intrigue. Lewis is looking to prove the first result was influenced by a short training camp, while Sanchez is determined to show that his first victory was no fluke.

When the bell rings on July 18, both men will have the opportunity to settle the debate inside the ring.
