Kathrine Lindenmuth Heads to Egypt for WBA Gold Flyweight Title Fight

By Andy Rivera – November 2025

Kathrine Lindenmuth (7-5) is once again proving she’ll take on any challenge, anywhere. The Albuquerque fighter has traveled to Egypt, where she’ll face Angelina Lucas (15-1) for the vacant WBA Gold Flyweight Title.

The bout, set for tomorrow night, is part of Lindenmuth’s ongoing climb through the ranks — and another example of her willingness to face top competition under any circumstances.

The WBA Gold belt is a regional championship, often serving as a stepping stone toward a world ranking and, eventually, a shot at a major world title.

Another Road Challenge

Lindenmuth’s reputation for taking on tough opposition has earned her respect among fight fans. Once again, she enters the ring as the underdog — and once again, she’s undeterred.

“Kat never says no to a challenge,” said her trainer Tony Rosales. “She’s earned everything the hard way, and that’s why she’s getting opportunities like this one.”

Lucas, who normally competes at 115 pounds, will be moving down in weight for the fight. Lindenmuth, meanwhile, steps up to flyweight (112 lbs) from her usual division — another example of her willingness to fight outside her comfort zone.

Neither fighter is currently ranked at flyweight, though Lucas holds the No. 7 WBA ranking at super flyweight (115 lbs).

Aiming for Bigger Things

At the top of the flyweight division stands Gabriella Fundora, one of boxing’s top three pound-for-pound fighters and the reigning world champion.

For Lindenmuth, a victory in Egypt could be a major breakthrough — a result that propels her into contention for a world title opportunity with one of the sport’s four major sanctioning bodies: the WBA, WBC, IBF, or WBO.

“Winning this fight could open a lot of doors,” Rosales said. “It’s a big step toward the bigger titles.”

Ready to Fight, Anywhere

Lindenmuth has never been one to shy away from challenges, whether it’s fighting overseas or stepping up in weight.

The fight takes place tomorrow night in Egypt, and if a streaming link becomes available, BoxingNewMexico.com will share it for fans eager to watch Lindenmuth in action.
