Kathrine Lindenmuth traveled overseas and returned with hardware, capturing the WBA Minor Flyweight Gold title via split decision on Friday night in Egypt.
Â
The victory secures Lindenmuth an important regional belt — one that is often used as a springboard into the WBA’s top-10 rankings and, ultimately, a shot at a full world title. The current WBA world flyweight champion is Gabriella Fundura.
Â
Lindenmuth boxed with confidence throughout the bout, earning scores of 96–94 and 98–92 on two of the judges’ cards. The third judge had it 95–94 for her opponent, Angelina Lucas , resulting in the split verdict.
Â
With the win, Lindenmuth improves to 8–5, positioning herself for bigger opportunities and, potentially, a run toward a legitimate world championship belt.
