Abraham Perez and Austin Trout had remarkable years, and as a result, they have been named co-fighters of the year.
Abraham Perez competed three times in 2025 after nearly experiencing a fatal drowning incident while preparing for a fight in August 2024. He made his comeback in April, facing Jose Montemayor and securing a straightforward victory by stoppage in the third round.
Perez traveled to El Paso to headline his second fight in July. He secured a hard-fought but unanimous victory against Angel Geovanny Meza Morales, who held a 9-3 record.
In December, Perez competed for the vacant NABF Flyweight title. He faced the powerful Adrian Ibarra Herrera in Albuquerque, delivering one of his most well-rounded performances. Perez won the fight when Herrera's corner decided to stop it because of the intense punishment Perez was inflicting.
Perez who has no cracked the top 25 WBC flyweight ratings is now looking to step it up more in 2026 in hopes of cracking the top 10.
Recovering from his accident and returning to his routine is exactly what he needed.
Austin Trout, once the WBA Jr. middleweight champion and now a Bareknuckle fighter, is currently regarded as the GOAT of BKFC after winning the BKFC Welterweight crown with a decision over Luis Palomino in 2024.
In 2015, Trout successfully defended his title for the first time against Carlos Trinidad Snake, winning by a six-round split decision in April. During the fight, Trout suffered a broken arm and required time to recover.
In December, Trout faced Palomino in a rematch held in Florida. The victor would move on to the 155 championship. This time, Trout easily dominated Palomino, ending the fight in the third round.
Trout will now fight for his 2nd BKFC title in 2026.
Abraham Perez and Austin Trout are both recognized as the Fighters of the Year for 2025 for their efforts.
