Abraham Perez answered every question placed before him, capturing the NABF Flyweight title with a dominant performance over Adrian Ibarra, who was unable to continue into the fifth round.

Perez, now 13-0 (KOs), entered the bout amid a busy stretch in his personal life. In recent months, he purchased a home with his partner Megan, continued working full-time at his family’s collision business, and prepared for the biggest fight of his career. On fight night, Perez passed every test.

Unlike previous outings where he typically spent the early rounds studying his opponent, Perez came out aggressively from the opening bell. His swift, precise combinations to both the head and body immediately set the tone. A crushing right hand sent Ibarra to the canvas, resulting in a dominant 10-8 opening round. Perez’s speed and power proved to be the defining factors early.

“I saw early that I had the advantage with my speed and was able to land easier than expected so soon,” said Perez.

In the third round, after repeatedly hurting Ibarra, Perez became momentarily overzealous. While pressing Ibarra against the ropes, Perez was caught by a solid right hand that briefly staggered him. He recovered quickly and regained control.

“He struck me, and I felt it,” Perez admitted. “I reminded myself to stay smart, focus on using my jab, and avoid being overly aggressive.”

By the fourth round, Ibarra attempted to land his own power shots, but Perez’s speed continued to punish him, reddening his face and causing visible swelling. Following the round, Ibarra and his corner made the decision to stop the fight, prioritizing his health.

What’s Next for Perez?

“I’m returning to the gym and will be prepared for any fight opportunities that arise,” Perez said. “I aim to compete against the best in the world and hope it happens soon.”

Perez’s father and trainer, Aaron Perez, confirmed discussions are underway with Golden Boy Promotions to secure a bout against a top-10 flyweight.

“We’re optimistic that they will contact us and give us the opportunity to achieve our goal of competing against the best,” Aaron stated.

Torres Wins Comeback Bout

Welterweight fan favorite Josh Torres returned to the ring following a layoff, earning a unanimous decision victory over Christian Aguirre.

Torres dropped Aguirre in the opening round with a straight right hand, sending him down early. Throughout the fight, Torres consistently landed the harder, cleaner punches, which proved decisive. The judges scored the bout 60-53 (twice)and 59-54.

Now 28-7 (15 KOs), the 35-year-old Torres expressed his desire to stay active.

“I’ll have news soon on what’s next,” Torres said. “I want to be busy this year.”

Torres has long been known for his durability and granite chin. A strong run could position him for a bigger opportunity moving forward.
