Yoruba Moreu Jr. has been named BoxingNewMexico's Prospect of the Year. After an impressive amateur career, Moreu began his professional journey with a first-round stoppage of Ndira Spearman in Tennessee. He then secured a third-round TKO against Bernardo Solis in Mexico.

Manager Jacob Maes informed BoxingNewMexico that he is working to arrange an opponent for a fight on January 9th in Albuquerque, NM, Moreu's hometown.

We are currently working on securing an opponent for next week; it's been a bit challenging at this time of year.

Maes also mentioned that he is working on aligning more closely with Moreu in each fight to improve with every match.

"I aim to gradually increase his level of competition with each fight. He's ready to face anyone, but his amateur experience makes it challenging to find suitable matches. In 2026, we plan to continue advancing even further."

Honorable mention

Guero Villarruel made his professional debut in November, securing a victory with a 4-round decision against Cruz Reyes.

Eduardo Pinon impressed with a first-round stoppage against Jose Vialpando, delivering a powerful left hook to the body.

Both Villarruel and Pinon will return to action January 31st, we look for big things from all three fighters in 2026.
