Nayeli Rodriguez (8-1) and Kathrine Lindenmuth (7-5-1) meet July 18 in El Paso, Texas, with the vacant UBO world title and Lindenmuth’s WIBA title on the line. —this time for titles—after a lengthy sparring session last year.

Rodriguez, who will be fighting in front of her hometown fans, remembers the experience well and believes it helped both fighters sharpen their skills.

“We sparred in 2025, 12 rounds. It was good sparring. I got to work on things I wanted to work on. It’s what I do when I spar,” said Rodriguez.

While sparring and fighting are two completely different situations, the previous rounds together have given each boxer a firsthand look at the other’s style, making this matchup even more intriguing.

Lindenmuth enters the bout looking to bounce back after challenging for the interim WBA flyweight title earlier this year and has consistently accepted difficult assignments throughout her career, going 2-4-1 and one no contest in her last 8 fights. Rodriguez, meanwhile, brings an impressive record into the contest and will have the advantage of fighting in front of a supportive El Paso crowd.

“La Bikina,” Rodriguez’s nickname, came from a promoter in Mexico. “He said it was a famous horse that was fast and quick, and he thought it fit me, so I liked it and it stuck,” she explained.

The fight card will be put on by Kings Promotions, which has signed Rodriguez to a promotional contract.

“I am glad they are taking a chance on me,” said Rodriguez. “I am in good hands with Marshall, my trainers, Jose and Veronica (my parents).”

With familiarity, championship experience, and hometown pride all part of the equation, fans can expect a competitive battle when these two experienced flyweights meet on the Ring Wars 23 card at the El Paso County Coliseum.

Rodriguez and Lindenmuth will be fighting for the vacant UBO world title, and the bout will also be for Lindenmuth’s WIBA title.
